John Bokosky, M.D. is a renown San Diego surgeon who specializes in Cornea Surgery and Vision Correction. He is on staff at over ten hospitals throughout San Diego County, including Scripps-Mercy, Sharp Cabrillo, Sharp Memorial, Children's, and Pomerado hospitals.

John Bokosky, M.D. is the former Chief of Ophthalmology at Scripps-Mercy Hospital and Medical Center. Currently, he is the Medical Director for the San Diego Eye Bank. Other appointments include Diplomat and Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and past President of the San Diego County Ophthalmological Society.

His specialized training in ophthalmology includes certifications to perform VISX Vision Correction, to instruct VISX Laser Courses and to perform Intacs procedures. John Bokosky, M.D. has surgical expertise in Corneal Refractive Surgery, including Photo Refractive Keratectomy (PRK), Photo Astigmatic Refractive Keratectomy (PARK), Laser-Assisted in-Situ Keratomileusis (LASIK) and Astigmatic Keratotomy (AK). He also performs Corneal Transplants, Cataract Extraction using Phacoemulsification with Intraocular Lens Implants, Pterygium surgery and Glaucoma surgery. He consults on complicated intraocular lens implant problems and diseases of the anterior segment of the eye, including dry eye, blepharitis, contact lens-related problems, and ocular infections.

John Bokosky, M.D. received his Fellowship in Corneal and External Diseases from the University of Michigan. He earned his doctorate in medicine from the University of Illinois College of Medicine and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at the University of Illinois. He performed his internship at Scripps-Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in San Diego and his Ophthalmology residence at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

John Bokosky, M.D. was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois.  He is married and has two children.
