John Bokosky, M.D. is a renown San Diego surgeon who specializes in Cornea
Surgery and Vision Correction. He is on

John Bokosky, M.D. is the former Chief of Ophthalmology at Scripps-Mercy Hospital and Medical
Center. Currently, he is the Medical Director for the San Diego Eye Bank.

of Michigan. He earned his doctorate in medicine from the University of
Illinois College of Medicine and received his Bachelor of Science degree

at Scripps-Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in San Diego and his Ophthalmology
residence at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Neil T. Choplin,
M.D. is a graduate of New York University, with a Bachelor's Degree in
mathematics. He received his medical degree from New York Medical College
and served a general surgery internship at Long Island Jewish Hillside
Medical Center and a residency in ophthalmology at Nassau County Medical
Center.
Neil T. Choplin, M.D. entered military service upon completion of residency training and served
four years at the Naval Hospital in Philadelphia. After completion of
a Glaucoma fellowship at the Wills Eye Hospital, Neil T. Choplin, M.D. transferred
to the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, where he is currently the chairman
of the Department of Ophthalmology and Director of the Glaucoma Service.
He holds the rank of a Captain in the United States Navy Medical Corps.
In addition, Neil T. Choplin, M.D. serves as a Glaucoma consultant
to Eye Care of San Diego / California Laser Vision Inc. and holds staff
privileges at Scripps-Mercy Hospital. Neil T. Choplin, M.D.has extensive
experience in Visual Field Testing, has written numerous articles and
has authored three textbooks dealing with Glaucoma and Visual Field Testing.
In addition, Neil T. Choplin, M.D. has been involved with the development
of a new technology to assess the retinal nerve fiber layer, the tissue

Asa Morton, M.D.,
a native San Diegan, received his undergraduate degree from Revelle College,
University of California, San Diego. Prior to pursuing a career in medicine
he took time to fulfill a childhood dream of flight and served five years
as a Navy jet pilot. Having realized his dream of flight Asa Morton, M.D.
was able to pursue his medical training. He received his medical degree
from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, F. Edward
Herbert School of Medicine, Bethesda, Maryland. During this time he was
honored with selection to the prestigious Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society,
later serving as President of the local chapter. Upon graduation Asa Morton,
M.D.was awarded the Surgeon General Award for academic excellence, medical
professionalism and leadership skills.
Asa Morton, M.D. completed his internship and ophthalmology residency training at the Naval Medical
Center San Diego, during which he was selected as the Intern of the Year.
Upon completion of his residency Asa Morton, M.D. was assigned to the
Naval Hospital Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico, where he ran the Ophthalmology
Department. Selected for the highly competitive University of Michigan
program (Go Blue), Asa Morton, M.D. spent 2 years studying and operating
with innovators in the field of Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery of
the eyelids, forehead, face, orbits and lacrimal system.
Asa Morton, M.D. served as the Director of Oculoplastics and Orbital Reconstruction, National
Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland, more commonly known as the "President's
Hospital". At present he is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services
University.
Dr. Morton is committed to volunteering on various humanitarian surgical missions and education
programs for medical providers in developing nations. Over the past decade
he has served as both teacher and surgeon in Pakistan, India, Brazil,
Mexico and Guatemala. Asa Morton, M.D. is certified by the American Board

Philip Taunton, O.D.
earned his degree from Bradford University School of Optometry in Great
Britain in 1968. He studied with The New England College of Optometry,
where he earned a Certificate of Advanced Study in Ocular Disease and
Pharmaceutical Application.
Philip Taunton, O.D. is licensed with the California State Board and passed the National Board
of Optometry exams in Basic Science, Clinical Science, Clinical Skills and Treatment and Management
of Ocular Disease. In 1997, he joined Eye Care of San Diego / California Laser Vision Inc.
as a Resident Optometrist and Contact Lens Specialist. He
specializes in Aphakic, Keratoconusand post-surgical
contact lens fitting. Philip Taunton, O.D. attained Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent
certification with the California State Board in December 1997, and Treatment Management of Glaucoma
in December 2001.
Philip Taunton, O.D. has worked professionally as an Optometrist in Great Britain and South
Africa and was involved in providing the first one-hour comprehensive laboratory service
for eyeglasses in Durban, S.A.

Dr. Sanchez earned her degree from the New England College of Optometry
in 2002 where she was a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, the International
Optometric Honor Society. Dr. Sanchez completed a post-graduate program in
Treatment and Management of Glaucoma at the Southern California College of Optometry.
Adriana A. Sanchez, OD has worked professionally as an Optometrist in Colombia after
she earned her degree from the University of La Salle in 1992. She worked in a
private practice providing eye examinations, vision therapy and contact lens fits. She
also provided eye care access for rural low-income elementary schools and small towns and
she was involved in training rural school personnel at eye screenings.
Dr. Sanchez is licensed with the California State Board of Optometry with Therapeutic
Pharmaceutical Agent (TPA) certification. She joined Eye Care of San Diego in 2002 as a
staff Optometrist. Dr. Sanchez provides primary care optometry and contact lens fitting
services. Dr. Sanchez is also fluent in Spanish

Dr. Marcelline A. Ciuffreda graduated from Haverford College with a B.A. in Molecular Biology. She then completed her optometric education in 2004 at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. Upon graduation, she received the distinguished honor of being named class valedictorian and also received the Clinical Excellence Award for her class. Dr. Ciuffreda went on to complete a residency in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation at the SUNY State College of Optometry. This residency has provided her with vast experience in the diagnosis and treatment of visual skills and perceptual dysfunctions, as well as in the rehabilitation and management of patients with traumatic brain injuries. At the conclusion of the program, she was presented with the Dr. Martin H. Birnbaum Memorial Award for excellence in Behavioral Optometry.
Dr. Ciuffreda is a member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the American Optometric Association, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She has published and presented several scientific and clinical papers, and has also lectured at international meetings and local optometric education programs.
A recent transplant from New York City, Dr. Ciuffreda is now a California State Board licensed optometrist with Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent (TPA) certification. Her services at Eye Care of San Diego include comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fittings, and pediatric examinations.
